    • In representing his clients, Ray holds himself to the highest ethical standards and practices law with the utmost level of professionalism.

Ray is a Connecticut native, having earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut in 1990, where he graduated, cum laude, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. After four years of working in the marketing field, Ray returned to his studies and enrolled at the University of Connecticut School of Law.

Ray was selected to be a member of the Connecticut Law Review, where he served as an associate editor. He graduated with honors in 1997 and subsequently joined the Connecticut bar. Upon graduating, Ray entered the legal world in downtown Hartford, where he practiced at several large, highly-regarded law firms, initially practicing in the area of corporate finance and then moving into estate planning and probate, which he greatly enjoyed.

Ray has had the opportunity to work on extensive estate planning for many high net worth individuals and families where sophisticated tax planning was critical. Many of Ray’s clients are highly successful, closely-held business owners for whom it is necessary to incorporate business succession planning into their overall estate planning. As a result, Ray has gained extensive experience in estate planning that extends far beyond drafting simple wills and straightforward trusts.

Due to Ray’s unique expertise & experience he is able to offer his clients sophisticated and creative strategies to meet their particular needs. Ray can handle a vast array of legal matters including but not limited to estate and gift tax concerns, specific family situations, or a combination thereof.

Ray also realizes the unique considerations business owners have beyond simply numbers and dollars including the human side of the business, as he grew up in a family business environment and has been in private business on his own as well. These actual firsthand business experiences have given Ray a unique perspective as an attorney. Ray is also exceedingly aware of the hard work that goes into operating a business and all of the stresses / concerns (as well as rewards) that go along with doing so.

Lots of blood, sweat and tears go into operating and maintaining one’s own business, and often there are family members involved as well. Ray knows this from his own experience, and it affords him the ability to be sensitive to and mindful of the business owner’s overall situation, needs and concerns. The totality of this experience has led Ray to focus his practice within these narrow, inter-related areas of the law. By doing so, he is able to build attorney-client relationships that are ongoing and oftentimes extend to future generations. From Ray’s perspective, these areas of the law are the most rewarding to practice in, affording him the opportunity to make a positive and long-lasting impact on his clients’ lives, helping them to plan for the futures of themselves and their children and grandchildren, and pursue their dreams and ambitions along the way.
